The A to Z of Baseball Equipment:
Baseball, the national game of the United States, with its typical base-covering to score runs and defending them with a roster featuring position pitchers, starting and relief pitchers, substitute catcher, backup infielders and outfielders and a pinch hitter, is the most widely played game even in Japan and Cuba! To enjoy a perfect game, it is not enough to be endowed with a bat and ball alone. What constitutes the perfect game is an amalgamation of all accessories of baseball shirts and Equipment, a complete package which ensures safety as well as a good game!
The first in the line of Baseball Equipment include bats, which might be made of wood or white ash, having the special properties of absorbing shock when encountering the forceful ball. The next one is, of course, the ball, which has multiple layers-a cork core covered with rubber. This layer then covered completely with cotton and wool.
Next in line are the uniforms. The baseball shirts and pants may vary in color and design according to the team, but mostly, white or gray shirts with the team name printed on them are more prevalent. A proper uniform does wonders in boosting the team-spirit and lends an air of professionalism to the game and the players.
After the apparel of the players come the baseball cleats, which are highly useful accessories providing traction to the runner, and are made up of metal or rubber.
The next aspect of accessories is to provide protection to the players. The pelvic protector protects the groin areas of female players from any injury during play, while the athletic cup held by the jockstrap protects the groin areas of the male players.
An important part of protection is the helmet. The helmets come in different kinds. The catcher’s helmet protects the head and face of the catcher, and modern designs are available which integrate a mask and helmet into a trendy yet useful accessory. The batter’s helmet is another kin of helmet which protects the face and ear which face the pitchers from any injury. The helmet may be designed to provide protection for a single ear or both ears.
Baseball caps are customized ‘trademarks’ of the game without which the game is unimaginable. The last, vital accessories to the game of baseball (to the players in particular) are the gloves. The catcher’s mitt and the baseman’s mitt, infielder and outfielder gloves, generally made of leather, are of different sizes and provide shock resistance and grip.
